VFX & Cleanup in Australia

Blackbyrds Digital does commercial VFX and cleanup for Australian agencies, production companies, and brands from Silang, Cavite in the Philippines: removal of logos, signs, and boom mics, tracked screen replacement, green screen, sky and background swaps, 3D product shots, and motion graphics. AI handles the first pass and a compositor finishes each frame by hand. Each shot is graded and priced in USD before work starts, from $150 for a simple shot, and the compositor works inside your business day rather than overnight.

Why here

Why this works for Australia.

VFX notes are hard to write and easy to say. “The edge on her hair crawls when she turns” takes a paragraph in a comment thread and ten seconds on a shared screen. That is where the Australian time zone earns its keep. The compositor’s day runs from 11am to 8pm in Sydney and Melbourne on standard time, noon to 9pm in daylight saving, and matches Perth exactly, so a producer can scrub through a watermarked render with the person who made it and agree the fix in one conversation. The overnight handoff a US or UK team has to plan around is not part of the arrangement here.

The shots are the ordinary casualties of a commercial shoot: a crew reflection in a shopfront window, a rig in the corner of a wide, a laptop that needs the client’s dashboard on screen, a product label that changed after the shoot. Each is graded simple, medium, or complex against the examples on our price list before anyone opens it. A simple shot is $150 and takes 2 – 3 business days; a medium shot is $480 and takes 3 – 5 business days; complex shots are quoted from $1,200 once we have watched the footage. Prices and invoices are in US dollars, paid by Wise or PayPal, and your bank or payment provider handles the conversion from Australian dollars.

Footage of identifiable people is personal information under the Australian Privacy Act, and plates are treated that way: handled on your instructions, under a data-handling agreement on request. Face replacement, de-aging, and voice changes are done only with written consent from the person on screen. The work stays inside commercial VFX: feature and streaming packages that need a studio security assessment, full CG creatures, and large fire, water, or destruction simulations belong with a different kind of studio, and we will say so before the plates are sent.

How the work runs.

  • Notes picked up the same day

Shared working hours mean timestamped notes on a render can be picked up the same working day. That matters most on the subtle problems: an edge that crawls, grain that does not match, a track that drifts. The changes then run inside the turnaround each tier lists.

  • Graded before work starts

Every shot is graded simple, medium, or complex, with its price, in writing before any work starts. A shot runs up to about 8 seconds and includes 2 revision rounds; extra rounds and rush turnaround are priced on the list.

  • 3D product for e-commerce

A 3D product packshot is from $850: your product modelled from photos or CAD, then three hero stills or a 5 – 8 second turntable, built from your actual product rather than an approximation of it.

  • A desk for Australian agencies

The VFX Desk gives an agency a block of shot credits from $1,590 / mo, where a simple shot uses one credit and a medium shot three. Delivery is unbranded under the agency’s name, review runs through the agency team, and the end client never hears from us.

What else we build for Australian teams.

  • Web Development

Next.js, React, and TypeScript builds — marketing sites, headless CMS front ends, and web applications.

  • Dedicated Development Team

Engineers who work only on your roadmap, in your tools and your standups, without a local hire.

  • Software Development

SaaS platforms, internal tools, dashboards, APIs, and the database work underneath them.

  • AI & Automation

AI features inside real products, document and intake automation, and workflow automation that removes manual steps.

  • White-Label Web Development

Development delivered behind your agency’s brand. You keep the client, the strategy, and the credit.

  • Technical Consulting

Architecture reviews, code and performance audits, modernisation plans, and technical roadmaps.

  • AI Video Editing

Your own footage edited: vlogs, YouTube, podcasts, shorts, ad recuts, and event recaps. AI does the first pass; an editor finishes it. Published prices.

How it works with a team in the Philippines.

Same clock as Perth; two hours behind the eastern states on standard time, three in daylight saving. The compositor’s day overlaps the Australian one by five to six hours, so a render can be discussed the day it is posted.

  1. Send the shot

Share the original footage by link, at the best quality you have, with a line on what needs fixing.

  2. We grade it

Simple, medium, or complex, and the price, in writing before any work starts.

  3. AI first, then a compositor

AI drafts the masks, fills, or environments. A compositor finishes, matches grain and light, and checks every frame.

  4. Review, then clean files

Frame-accurate notes on a watermarked render, then clean files in the format and resolution you shot.

VFX FAQ

Common questions.

What does a shot cost, and in what currency?

US dollars, from the published per-shot list: $150 for a simple shot, $480 for a medium shot, and complex shots quoted from $1,200. Invoices are paid by Wise or PayPal, and your bank or payment provider handles the conversion from Australian dollars. Until the invoice is paid, reviews happen on watermarked renders; the clean files follow payment.

Are the people in our plates personal information?

When they can be identified, yes, under the Australian Privacy Act. We process the plates on your instructions and sign a data-handling agreement on request.

Will you change a face or a voice?

Only with written consent from the person on screen naming the specific uses. Face and voice changes are never used to depict a real person or event that did not happen, and political or news-style fabrication is declined.
