What is UGC Ad?
A UGC ad is a paid advert made to look like a post from an ordinary user rather than from a brand: handheld framing, a person talking to camera, natural light, unpolished delivery. Most are commissioned and scripted, so the label describes the style of the creative rather than who filmed it.

The label has drifted from its origin. Genuine user-generated content was material customers posted unprompted; what agencies sell as UGC today is produced deliberately in that style, either filmed with a paid creator or generated. The style persists because of placement. In a feed of posts from real people, an advert that looks like a post reads as native, while a polished brand film announces itself as an interruption and is scrolled past.
Production is volume work by design. A pack of UGC ads varies the persona, the opening line and the setting, because the point is to find which combination performs rather than to make one perfect film. Two constraints belong in every brief: paid partnerships and advertising have to be disclosed under platform rules, and a claim a creator makes on camera is the advertiser’s claim, with Philippine consumer protection law addressing deceptive sales practices whatever format they appear in.
Common questions.
Is AI-generated UGC still UGC?
Not in the original sense. A generated creator-style video is brand-produced creative wearing the format’s clothes, which is why disclosure rules and advertising standards matter more rather than less. Treating the output as an advert instead of as a post is the safer default, and platform policies on synthetic media are worth reading before a campaign runs.
